The Graduate! Network’s New Podcast Launches with a Familiar Face

ProjectAttain! champion Dr. Su Jin Jez, executive director of California Competes, is a contributor to The Graduate! Network’s new podcast, “Moved by Degrees.” The series launched on Friday, November 5, 2021, and is available here.

Episode One, “The Banner Lady,” features comebacker Kimberly Lowe Sawyer and focuses on how supporting completion for vulnerable adults can transform families and communities.  The episode title is an homage to how Kim is known in her Philadelphia community, a neighborhood that is economically distressed and plagued by violence. For the last decade, she’s been hanging banners on the front porch of her family home to celebrate educational milestones.   Kim earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Chestnut Hill College in 2011 with navigation support from Graduate! Philadelphia. She went on to earn a Master of Science in Human Services in 2012, and is currently a doctoral candidate at Holy Family University. Guests to the episode include: Dr. Paul Harrington, Drexel University Center for Labor Markets & Policy; Dr. Su Jin Gatlin Jez, California Competes; Maryann Rainey, Ascendium Education Group; Jen Schramm, AARP Public Policy Institute; and Dr. Aaron Thompson, Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education.
